Beat the Drum
Alright so I just wanted to let everyone know about what’s going on over the next few weeks. This week is regular ministry, everyone going to their various locations in Jeffreys Bay. Then Friday we all pack up and travel to a town called Somerset, about 3 hours away, where we’ll be helping to put on a program that specializes in AIDS awareness, called Beat the Drum.
The program itself is based off of the movie Beat the Drum, which allows us a basic story they can relate to, to bring the issue forward, and open up the people to respond. The small group leaders from all over South Africa and the US will then be going into various high schools to share and train the young people of Somerset about AIDS-prevention from a Biblical point of view.
There is still a need for financial support for the books that we’ll be using for Beat the Drum, as well as transportation and other various costs. The total need is somewhere around $1500, with about $450 already covered. So there is still a lot of room for you to get involved in this specific ministry if you’re interested. Or if you’d like more specific information about the organization that’s running it, here is their website: www.beatthedrum.net
To donate specifically for Beat the Drum, you need to go www.adventures.org/give/donate.asp?giveto=staff and then fill in the “staff member” box with “Beat the Drum-Somerset,” that way we know where to your donation is going.
Prayer Requests:
-For this next week of ministry in Jeffreys Bay
-For the preparations being made for Bear the Drum
-That financial need would be met
-Pray for the AIM team as we prepare to share to Somerset
-Pray for a lasting impact on everyone in the community, that the effects might spread to more towns
-Smooth running of the programs
-Opportunity to share the gospel
Thanks to everyone out there keeping in touch, I love to hear your comments, and send me news of home!
Hi Matthew
I can’t say good morning or good afternoon because I’m not sure what it is over there. But good something just the same. : ) I just want to say THANK YOU for keeping us the church updated through your blog. I just talked with someone who has been following your progress and praying for you. They told me what a blessing it is for them to see you grow, but more importantly is that they watched you grow up and now you are out serving the Lord. They are so proud of you! Your updates are having a wonderful impact here. (Through the work you are doing there you have brought missions to a new level here.) Thank you once again for the work you are doing for the Lord.
In Him
